The Entubar CRV (Connecticut River Valley) Double Corona Cigar is a medium-full flavored, super-premium extension of the sensational Entubar cigar brand from Berger Argenti. Blended with flavorful, deeply aged Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos ensconced in a U.S. Connecticut #1 Grade Shade-Grown wrapper Entubar CRV Gran Toro cigars are rich, bold and complex yet very smooth and creamy.

Entubar CRV cigars are the latest Entubar brand extension to pay tribute to the time-honored Cuban cigar making technique known as 'entubado' while also establishing a revolutionary new process of manufactoring premium cigars.

Each deeply age Nicaraguan filler leaf is carefully rolled into itself creating delicate 'scrolls' of rich, flavorful tabacco. This age-old method ensures open chambers of air flow from the foot to the head of the cigar, creating a superior draw. The ligero tobacco leaves that lend the cigar its unique full body is bunchced 'entubar' independently from the rest of the blend before it's 're-bunched' directly into the center of the remaining 'entubar' rolled filler blend.

The Double Corona cigar is 6 5/8 in length with a gauge of 64. 20 cigars come in the rustic Spanish cedar boxes. The Entubar CRV line is being discontinued because of a big increase in the price of Connecticut River Valley wrapper, so get yours before we run out of stock.

I saw these on promotion, and read some reviews that were glowingly good. I decided to buy a box and tested them out with my friends. We all liked them very much, so buy them especially if you see them on sale. Top quality construction and appearance and very good complex flavor. Immediately noticeable as a cigar different from others.

  • Excellent flavor profile, unique, and beautifully constructed

The Berger+Argenti Entubar CRV is the mildest of the Entubars made by B+A, but still has a medium body. The Quad Maduro and other Entubar offerings are medium to full in body and strength. I bought 2 boxes of the double corona vitola (7.4" x 54) for $180, including shipping--that's $4.50 a stick.

The Entubar series from B+A uses a classic rolling method that historically has produced a relatively soft cigar--too soft for many smokers, yet these sticks are firmly packed. It's critical to light these cigars properly, spending at least 45 sec to a minute to light the foot of the cigar along with the protruding 1/2 inch of tobacco. Doing so produces a near-perfect burn for the length of the cigar, even one as long as the double corona.

The flavor profile is complex and settles in on the medium side. The Connecticut River Valley wrapper really smooths out the smoke without interfering with the interplay of tobacco, earth, toast, and cocoa flavors that all make their appearance subtlely at various times. Sometimes it's more useful to describe flavors one did not experience--in my case it was pepper, cedar, and barnyard overtones that were not there. By the way, I like all of those . . .

Given that I paid $4.50/stick including shipping for a cigar that lasts for at least 90 min and rates somewhere between a 9-9.5 out of 10 on my personal scale of goodness, this rates as one of the best cigar purchases I have ever made in my 40+ years of cigar smoking.

I was especially appreciative that this rather long cigar did not develop bitter or harsh flavors in the last third, although I should point out that I purge any cigar I smoke every inch or so once it is in the final half.
