Calixto Lopez

calixto-capturad.jpg

Calixto Lopez are proof that cigars previously made in Cuba can be handmade outside of Cuba and taste even better than its predecessor. The Calixto Lopez Cigar Factory opened in Cuba during the 19th century. Their cigars were considered some of Cuba's best and in 1904 won the Grand Prize at the St. Louis World's Fair as the world's finest Havana cigar. Calixto Lopez's talents as a cigar maker were recognized by the Cuban government when it named one of the best tobacco growing areas in Pinar Del Rio for Calixto Lopez. These cigars are hand made using his traditional cigar making techniques. A Calixto Lopez cigar is medium to full bodied and has smooth notes of leather, vanilla cream, floral flavors, sweet tobacco, cocoa breezes and white chocolate notes. It's hand made with Cuban-seed fillers from Nicaragua, with the Ligero from Esteli, the Seco from the Jalapa Valley and the Viso from the volcanic island of Ometepe. It's all bound together with a virgin Sumatra leaf from Ecuador and enveloped in a 5-year aged black Cuban-seed Maduro leaf from Nicaragua. 4 sizes are available in boxes of 20 cigars.
